Vietnam…A country that is not explored by many, but well known by most.
When someone says the name Vietnam, immediately most people start thinking of and imagening the same images. Images of rice paddies with women working in the mud, images of war with soldiers trekking through rain forests, and possibly even images of floating islands off the coast of Vietnam.
Many people may have even had fleeting thoughts of possibly traveling to the far east and getting to visit ole Vietnam. But for so many years Vietnam has been a closed country, not very open to America or anything it represents at all. But recently, quite recently, things have started to turn around. Vietnam is quite interested in global markets, democracy, English, and a whole lot more of what is typically "Western."
Things are changing. Things are always changing.
And Vietnam is no different. Ho Chi Minh City is home to the busiest streets in the world with thousands and thousands and thousands of "motos" constantly streaking about the streets. Life is moving fast in Vietnam and people are becoming more aware of their surroundings and who they are now that they are not being told what to do every living moment. People are beginning to awaken from a long slumber.
Adventures In Missions has the privilege of getting to visit Vietnam during the beginning of their awakening. We are planning a trip to Vietnam from August 18-26th of 2012. The team will get to visit three locations throughout Vietnam.
The team will get to spend a few days in Ho Chi Minh City doing ministry in a children's home. The team will also get to travel for three days south into the Mekong Delta where they will get to work on helping to rebuild/build churches in some very poor villages. After those three days, a trip to help out with an English Camp is in store where the team will either visit a mountain town or a beach town.
Opportunties abound for missions in Vietnam, and it is time to start exploring the options there. Are you interested in pushing forward into a country that has only recently opened it mind to capitalism, christianity, and more western ways of thinking?
