Hey guys!
This is a blog from Bill Bush who is on staff with Adventures. He spent 100 days working in Vietnam with Heather who now lives there full time and helps hoast teams. This is a story of somethings that they did durring their time working together in Vietnam. While you are in Vietnam you would have the oppertunity to work with kids that have been abandond due to an abortion not working or due to parents just not wanting them. These kids need to know that they are loved and that God has amazing plans for them.
It's quite amazing the atrocities that go on around the world.
Or maybe even more amazing, the fact that we don't even know.
Sure, we can blame it on the news. The news only tells us about war, the economy, and maybe the latest disappearance. How could they possibly keep us up to date with everything that is going on around the world? It is nearly election season in America, who needs to know about the violence going on in the middle east as they strive to create better governments so that they too can become free people. I mean we have to "inform" ourselves about our vote for our next president right?
As the American life ticks on, us unaware of the world we live in, is it our fault that we don't know about the violence in Sudan? About the imprisonment of the President of Burma? About the alarming rate of abduction and prostitution in Eastern European countries?
Maybe. It is hard, if not impossible, to know about all of the things happening all around the world. But the question is; what do you do about the things that you do know about? What are you doing to learn more?
Do you stand up against it? Do you stand up and fight? Do you change the channel?
Last week we visited La Gi, a city 4 hours north of Ho Chi Minh City. Here we met up with a team from Texas who was in Vietnam for 2 weeks to do ministry with a Catholic run orphanage there. We started off the morning at 7 doing feeding ministry at a hospital. Later in the day we put together 300 feeding packets for the next days feeding ministries. But it was during this time in La Gi that we visited a cemetery. Now this orphanage is a unique one. The children at this orphanage, all 67 or them, are rescues from abortions. 67 beautiful little boys and girls all under the age of 3. At the cemetery, we met the kids who were not privileged in such a way as the 67. 16,500 little ones buried in green tiled graves.
16,500.
Vietnam has over 2,000,000 abortions reported per year. A woman has an average of 3.35 abortions in her lifetime. The government pushes abortions on women through the doctors, deciding population control is easier done this way.
Lost Orphans is the organization that we worked with in La Gi. You can visit their website and learn about who they are and what they are striving to do in today's world. They are standing up and fighting for freedom for children through rescuing them; from war, famine, abortion, starvation, and trafficking. You may need to arm yourself with more knowledge. The information is out there. Find out more about Burma, Sudan, or maybe Honduras. Or maybe God has put something else on your heart. Chase after it.
But God has given us the ability to fight in our own ways. Against the things he has called us to.
But the question is; Are you going to do something?
